GR-STELTMAN CHAIR

"Steltman Stoel" was designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1963. This is the right-handed version. Asymmetric, frame-like chair-object with three legs, each different in shape. Executed by Gerard van de Groenekan in his Utrecht workshop, before 1971. Signed by hand, "G.A.v.d. Groenekan." Rietveld designed it for a shop interior for Steltman, a jeweller in The Hague, also from 1963. The first version was fully upholstered with white imitation leather, with seams running along the wood edges. This wooden-seat version was only made after Rietveld's death in 1964.
